About Us
Parenting Out Loud is when dads are loud and proud about their caring responsibilities at work. It supports them to be equal parents at home and it is a revolution for working dads.
It’s transformational. It’s a clear step change from what previous generations were able – or allowed – to do. It’s a redefinition of what it means to be a man and a dad.
Parenting Out Loud is dads taking full parental leave, asking for flexibility for childcare, blocking school runs in work calendars, leaving loudly at 3pm, and being honest when a child is sick. It’s visible, intentional, and it challenges the unspoken rules of work.
This work is urgent. If we want to tackle the motherhood penalty, support women into leadership, improve parental mental health, and create better outcomes for children, we must change deeply rooted, gendered parenting norms. More dads want to step up — but workplace culture and outdated ideas about masculinity still hold them back.
Supporting dads isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s smart business. Employers who enable Parenting Out Loud see better recruitment, retention, engagement and wellbeing, and become more competitive in a changing labour market.
At Parenting Out Loud, we lead the national conversation on working dads. We empower fathers through peer support, resources and events, and partner with employers through programmes, consultancy and workshops to build Parenting Out Loud workplace cultures. We also drive change through the media and our flagship moments — the Working Dads’ Summit and Equal Parenting Week.
This is a movement.
Whether you’re a dad, an employer or an ally — you belong here.
Meet the team
Elliott Rae is one of the UK’s most prominent writers and speakers on fatherhood and masculinity.
Elliott is a husband and father to 2 daughters, aged 10 and 3. His work on fatherhood and masculinity was shaped by personal experience after being diagnosed with PTSD following the traumatic birth of his eldest daughter, who was born with Group B Strep.
He spent his 2 weeks of paternity leave by his family’s side in the neonatal intensive care unit before returning to work the very next day. In the first year of his daughter’s life, he changed his working pattern 3 times — flexibility that he describes, without exaggeration, as lifesaving.
That experience ignited his commitment to reshaping workplace cultures so that fathers and families are better supported from day one.
Elliott coined the term Parenting Out Loud and created the culture change programme which has revolutionised the national conversation about working fathers and is a thriving community for working dads who want to do things differently.
As an author, Elliott curated the bestselling book, DAD, and as a presenter, he fronted the seminal BBC One documentary ‘Becoming Dad’ which was one of the 20 most watched documentaries across the whole BBC network in 2022.
Elliott co-hosts the popular podcast, To Be A Boy, with Joeli Brearley, founder of Pregnant Then Screwed. The podcast explores parenting, raising boys and masculinity. To Be A Boy is one of the most listened to parenting podcasts in the UK, reaching number 1 in the Apple parenting podcast chart, number 7 in the UK Spotify all podcast charts and clocking up 1.6 million listener minutes in 2025. The podcast attracts high profile guests and has featured interviews with the likes of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Caitlin Moran.
He has written for publications such as The Independent, The Telegraph and Grazia. He frequently appears across the media, including a feature on Loose Women and regular contributions to LBC, Radio 5 Live, BBC Politics Show and BBC Radio London.
Elliott has held senior Inclusion positions in large companies, most notably as the Head of DEI Delivery at HM Treasury.
He is recognised by LinkedIn as the UK’s top voice on fatherhood and in 2025, Elliott was awarded a MBE from the King for his work supporting new dads. He was also recognised by the United Nations and awarded the #HeForShe Change maker of the year award by UN Women UK.
Elliott is a big football fan and supports Queens Park Rangers (thanks dad!) and he absolutely loves music, having met his wife in a band many years ago. When he’s not working, parenting or watching football, you’ll usually find him at a music festival somewhere — dancing in the sunshine and soaking up the vibes.
